Running a cosmetics boutique business means the money never behaves as neatly as the advice suggests. A salon or a self employed stylist has two businesses stacked on top of each other. One sells time in a chair. The other sells product off a shelf. They have completely different margins, and mixing them together in your head is how people end up thinking a good month was better than it was.
Product cost is sneaky. Colour, developer, disposables and back bar stock get used up gradually and bought in lumps, so the spend and the usage never line up in the same month. Buying three hundred pounds of stock in one week does not mean that week was expensive, it means you bought stock.
Then there is the rent question. Chair rent or booth rent is fixed and lands whether or not you were busy. For anyone renting, the single most useful number in the business is how many clients a week clears the rent, and almost nobody has worked it out.

Three situations that come up constantly in cosmetics boutiques.
Training is expensive and usually justified with a feeling. Compare what you paid against income in the months after you started offering the new treatment. Sometimes the answer is uncomfortable and worth knowing.
December is enormous and January is thin, every year. Having both on a chart is what turns that from a shock into something you put money aside for in November.
Cashowa pulls your fixed costs together, rent included. Set that against your average service price and you know exactly how many appointments a week you need before anything is profit.
Switch between monthly, quarterly and yearly to see the pattern.
December is the biggest month by a distance and January is usually the worst. There is a reliable lift before summer and around big local events and weddings.
Upload twelve months and the pattern stops being something you half remember. You can switch between monthly, quarterly and yearly, which matters when income arrives in lumps and a single month tells you very little.
If you hold stock or materials, Cashowa tracks what you have, what it cost and what is running low. Enter a count once and it counts down as things get used, so you are not retyping numbers every week.
Add a lead time and it warns you before something runs out, rather than after.

Built around how cosmetics boutiques work, not around a generic business.
Product sales against product buying, so you can see if the shelf is earning.
What a course cost against what it brought in.
The biggest and smallest months of the year, side by side.
Rent, insurance, software and subscriptions grouped so you know your weekly nut.
Quarterly and annual views stop lumpy stock buying from making random months look terrible.
These get recognised and sorted on their own when they turn up on your statement. If something specific to your setup gets filed wrongly, you fix it once and it sticks.
Export a statement, upload it, and the categorising happens on its own.
The things worth knowing before you sign up.
