How to cancel Zoom Pro
Cancel Zoom Pro online — but it doesn't refund. Cancellation takes effect at end of billing period.
Online:
- Sign in at zoom.us → click your profile (top right) → Account Management → Billing
- Click Cancel Subscription next to your plan
- Pick a reason → confirm. Access continues until billing date.
No refunds, full stop. Zoom's policy: no prorated refunds, no early-termination discounts, no goodwill credits. Whatever's left in your billing period is the access you get. Time cancellation so it lands just after a new billing period starts for minimum waste.
Annual vs monthly: Annual Zoom Pro is $149.90/year vs $14.99/month ($179.88/year). If you cancel annual mid-year, you lose the remainder — but the annual was already cheaper than ~10 months of monthly, so unless you'd cancel in the first 8 months it's still the better deal.
Group meetings stop at 40 minutes. Zoom free tier limits group meetings to 40 minutes. 1-on-1 meetings have no time limit on free. If your usage is 1-on-1s, free is fine.
Free alternatives for group meetings:
- Google Meet — 60 min limit on free, then you can re-join the same room
- Microsoft Teams — 60 min limit on free
- Whereby — 45 min limit on free
- Jitsi Meet — open-source, no time limit, but you self-host or use jitsi.org
Zoom Workplace consolidation: Zoom's bundled "Workplace" includes Pro + Phone + Notes + Whiteboard. If you use only the meeting tool, the unbundled Pro is cheaper than Workplace.
