How to cancel The Wall Street Journal

Cancel WSJ by phone (they don't allow online cancel). Strong retention deals available — phone first.

WSJ blocks online cancellation — you have to call. This is annoying but the retention deals are real.

Phone: 1-800-369-2834 (US), Mon-Fri 7am-10pm ET, Sat-Sun 7am-3pm ET.

Script:

"I'd like to cancel my subscription. The price has gone up and it's no longer worth it at this rate."

The retention rep will almost certainly offer you a steep discount — commonly $4/month for 12 months, sometimes $1/month for a limited period. Whether to accept:

  • If you read regularly and would pay $4/month: take the deal, mark a calendar reminder to call again before it renews at full price
  • If you've decided to leave: be polite and firm. "I appreciate it, but I'd like to cancel today."

Print + Digital: If you have the paper edition too, you can cancel that part standalone and keep digital, or vice versa. Mention which one you actually use.

Don't try to cancel via your email "manage subscription" link — it sends you to a page that doesn't include cancel; only the phone works.
