How to cancel Tidal
Cancel Tidal online in 3 minutes. Family plan covers 6 accounts — splitting is the cheapest way to keep HiFi audio.
Online:
- Sign in at tidal.com/account (web only — the app's settings won't have a cancel button)
- Scroll to Subscription → click Cancel Subscription
- Tidal offers retention (typically 50% off for 3 months). Click Continue to skip.
- Confirm. Access continues until billing date.
Mobile cancel: App Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription routes you to the same web page. Use the browser directly to skip the redirect.
Family Plan trick: Tidal HiFi Family is $14.99/mo for 6 accounts (~$2.50 each). Individual HiFi is $9.99 — splitting Family across 4+ people is dramatically cheaper. Tidal checks for same-address (relaxed enforcement) — typical families and roommates work fine.
HiFi vs HiFi Plus: HiFi ($9.99) gives lossless audio. HiFi Plus ($19.99) adds Master Quality Audio (MQA) + Dolby Atmos + spatial audio. If you can't tell the difference on your headphones (most people can't), HiFi is fine.
Student plan: $4.99/mo with .edu verification. Worth applying if you have any current student status.
Free tier: Tidal Free has a small ad-supported catalog and lower bitrate. Functional for casual listening but a downgrade from any HiFi tier.
If billed via Apple/Google: cancel in iOS Settings → Subscriptions or Google Play → Subscriptions, not on tidal.com.
Free alternatives: Spotify free (ads, lower bitrate), YouTube Music free (ads, no offline), SoundCloud free.
