How to cancel Spotify Premium

Online:

1. Sign in at spotify.com (browser, not the app — the cancel button is hidden in the app)
2. Click your profile → Account
3. Scroll to "Your plan" → click Change plan
4. Scroll to the bottom → click Cancel Premium
5. Confirm. You stay on Premium until the end of your billing period, then drop to free.

Your library is safe. Cancelling Premium doesn't delete your playlists, liked songs, podcasts, or follows. You keep everything — you just get ads, lower bitrate, and lose offline downloads.

If billed via Apple/Google: cancel from that platform (iOS Settings → Subscriptions, or Google Play subscriptions). Spotify can't cancel a subscription it doesn't bill.

Spotify Family loophole: If your family plan costs $16.99 for 6 accounts, that's $2.83 each. If you're paying individual at $11.99, adding two friends and splitting Family is the cheapest legal way to keep Premium — assuming you're all at the same address (Spotify checks).

Student plan: $5.99/mo with .edu verification. If you have any current student status (community college course, online program), worth applying.
