How to cancel SiriusXM
Cancel SiriusXM by phone — they don't offer self-service web cancel. Massive retention discounts almost guaranteed.
SiriusXM has no web self-cancel button — call required. This is on-brand: their entire business model relies on retention discounting.
Phone: 1-866-635-2349 (US), Mon-Fri 8am-11pm ET, Sat-Sun 8am-8pm ET.
The retention script (use this — it works):
"Hi, I'd like to cancel my SiriusXM subscription. The price has gone up too much and I'm not getting enough value."
The retention rep will work through a tier of offers:
- First offer: 50% off for 6 months. Say no.
- Second offer: $5-7/month for 12 months. Say no.
- Third offer (sometimes): $3-5/month for 12 months OR $99 for the whole year. This is the floor.
Take the third offer if you'd happily pay $50-100/year. Or politely insist on cancellation if you really don't want it.
Set a calendar reminder for ~14 months out when the cheap deal ends — they always re-raise the price to "regular," but you can call again for another discount cycle. Most long-time SiriusXM listeners pay 1/3 the listed price by renegotiating annually.
Free streaming alternatives: Howard Stern's only on SiriusXM, but most channels have Spotify/Apple Music equivalents. Sports talk: ESPN Radio is free. News: NPR / podcasts. If you'd accept Stern-free, the alternatives are abundant.
Vehicle subscription: If your subscription is tied to a vehicle (free 3-month trial when you bought a new car), cancellation just stops the radio — your VIN can re-subscribe later.
