How to cancel Orangetheory Fitness
Cancel Orangetheory in person at your home studio with 30 days written notice. Some studios accept email — confirm yours.
Orangetheory's policy varies by location because each studio is independently franchised. The default is:
In person (default for most studios):
- Go to your home studio during front-desk hours
- Ask for the cancellation/freeze form. Fill it out — name, email, member ID, requested cancellation date
- Get a signed copy as proof. Photograph or scan it.
- 30 days notice required. Your last bill is the one that posts AFTER the 30-day window — so a cancellation submitted on June 1 may still incur the July 1 charge depending on your billing date.
Some franchises accept email cancellation. Ask your home studio first. If they accept email, send to the studio's email (NOT corporate) with subject "Cancellation request — [your name], member #". Request written confirmation of the cancellation date and final charge.
Freeze instead of cancel: Orangetheory offers monthly freezes for $0-25/mo (varies by studio) up to 3 months. If you're cancelling for travel, injury, or a busy month, freeze first. Your member status and membership-since date are preserved.
Annual contracts: Many users sign 12-month commitment plans for a discount. Early cancellation triggers an early-termination fee — typically $100-200, or the remaining months at full rate. Exceptions: relocation >25 miles from any OTF, doctor-certified medical condition, military deployment.
Class packages (unlimited vs. 4/8/X-pack): If you have a package (not a monthly membership), there's nothing to "cancel" — just stop using the classes. Unused classes typically expire 30-90 days after purchase.
Personal training vs membership: PT contracts are separate from the membership and have their own (often longer) cancellation clauses. Read your specific PT agreement.
