How to cancel OkCupid
Cancel OkCupid Premium where you bought it. The free tier still works — most messaging is free.
Cancel where you bought it.
iOS: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → OkCupid → Cancel Subscription.
Android: Google Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → OkCupid → Cancel.
Web (okcupid.com): Sign in → click your profile (top right) → Settings → Account & Subscription → Manage Subscription → Cancel.
Free tier is functional. OkCupid is unusual among dating apps — most core features (messaging, matching, profile editing) work on the free tier. Paid tiers (Premium, A-List) mainly unlock advanced filters, who-liked-you visibility, and read receipts.
Premium tier breakdown:
- Free — messaging works, basic matching, ads
- Premium ($14-30/mo depending on age) — see who liked you, advanced search filters, no ads, message priority
- A-List Premium ($30-60/mo) — adds boosts, profile attention boosts
If you're cancelling because of cost, downgrading from A-List to Premium often makes sense. Or going fully free — the free tier is genuinely useful here.
Profile cleanup: Cancelling the subscription doesn't delete the profile. To delete entirely: Settings → Disable or Delete Account → Delete Account.
Age-based pricing (yes, same as Hinge/Tinder): OkCupid charges users 30+ noticeably more for the same Premium tier. A 22-year-old might pay $14/mo while a 35-year-old pays $30/mo for identical features. This isn't a bug or a discount you can negotiate — it's how the company prices.
App-bought vs web-bought price gap: App store purchases are ~30% more expensive than web (Apple/Google fees). If you cancel an iOS sub, you can resubscribe via okcupid.com on a browser for the lower price.
