How to cancel iCloud+
Cancel iCloud+ on iPhone, Mac, or web. Storage downgrade can leave files in a 'soon to be deleted' state — back up first.
On iPhone/iPad: Settings → tap your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage (or iCloud Storage on older iOS) → Change Storage Plan → Downgrade Options → choose Free 5GB → confirm with your Apple ID password.
On Mac: System Settings → tap your name → iCloud → Manage → Change Storage Plan → Downgrade Options → Free 5GB → confirm.
STORAGE DOWNGRADE WARNING. iCloud+ paid plans range from 50GB ($0.99) to 12TB ($59.99). The free tier is 5GB. If you're using more than 5GB at the time of downgrade, your data is not immediately deleted — Apple gives you 30 days. After 30 days, iCloud Drive files, iCloud Photos, and device backups beyond 5GB stop syncing and may be removed.
Before cancelling:
- Settings → [your name] → iCloud → see what's using space
- Back up Photos to a hard drive or another service (Google Photos has 15GB free)
- Export iCloud Drive files if you'll need them outside iCloud
- Check device backups — turn off "iCloud Backup" on devices you don't want backed up
Family Sharing: iCloud+ Family ($9.99/200GB or $19.99/2TB shared) is meaningfully cheaper than separate 200GB plans. If you have family, share before cancelling.
Apple One bundle: iCloud+ 50GB is included free in Apple One Individual; 200GB in Family; 2TB in Premier. If you have Apple One, you can't cancel iCloud+ alone — you'd cancel Apple One or downgrade its tier.
No refunds. Apple doesn't refund partial periods on iCloud+. Your last paid month runs to completion.
