How to cancel Google One

Online:

1. Sign in at one.google.com → Settings → Plans
2. Click Manage under your current plan → Cancel Membership
3. Google walks through the downgrade impact. Click Continue through it.
4. Confirm. Access continues until your billing date.

Storage downgrade grace period: Google One free tier is 15GB. If your Drive + Gmail + Photos usage exceeds 15GB after downgrade:

• You can still read and download all your files
• You cannot upload new files or receive new email until you free space
• After ~2 years over the limit, Google may delete data — but in practice they email warnings repeatedly

This grace period is way more generous than iCloud's 30 days. You have time to clean up properly.

Before cancelling:

1. one.google.com → Storage → see what's using space
2. Empty Gmail Trash and Spam (often gigabytes of waste)
3. Photos: free up space by enabling "Storage saver" quality (shrinks photos without deleting)
4. Drive: sort by file size, delete or download-then-delete large old files

Family Plan: $19.99/2TB for up to 6 people. Splitting with family makes Google One the cheapest cloud storage per person.

Refund policy: Annual plans get a prorated refund if cancelled. Email one.google.com/support to request.
