How to cancel BarkBox

Online:

1. Sign in at barkbox.com → click your profile (top right) → My Account
2. Click Cancel Subscription
3. BarkBox shows retention offers in sequence:
   • A free upgrade to a larger box
   • A free extra toy in next month's box
   • A free month
   • A discount (often 30-50% off the next 2 months)
4. To actually cancel, click Continue Cancellation through each → confirm

The retention offers are real and stack. Many users report calling BarkBox a few times before cancellation to "stack" offers — first call gets a free upgrade, second gets a free month, etc. Whether to play that game depends on whether your dog actually plays with the toys.

Cancellation cutoff: BarkBox cancellation must happen before the next month's box is shipped (typically the 15th of the previous month). After that cutoff, the next box is locked in and you can't stop it.

Multi-month plan commitment: If you signed up for a 3, 6, or 12-month plan, cancelling early may trigger:

• 3-month plan: No fee, just no refund on remaining months
• 6/12-month plan: Some plans bill remaining months at the higher monthly rate

Read your specific plan terms. Most have no actual penalty — you just don't get the discount you'd have gotten by completing.

Toy quality vs price: BarkBox is ~$23-35/mo depending on plan length. The same dollar amount at PetSmart/Chewy typically buys more durable toys. If your dog destroys BarkBox toys in <24 hours (very common), Chewy's "tough toy" filter is usually a better spend.

BarkBox Super Chewer: The premium tier ($35+/mo) for power-chewing dogs. If toys are getting destroyed, upgrade rather than cancel — Super Chewer's toys last meaningfully longer.

Charity / shelter donation: If you're cancelling because your dog passed away, BarkBox will donate your final month's box to a local shelter instead of shipping. Tell support — they're typically gracious about this.
