How to cancel Audible
Cancel Audible online or by phone. Keep your library — purchased audiobooks stay forever, even after cancellation.
Online (recommended):
- Sign in at audible.com → Account Details (mouse over your name, top right)
- Click Cancel Membership in the membership info section
- Audible offers retention deals — usually 3 months at half price, or a free month of pause
- To actually cancel, continue past the offers until you see the final confirmation
Your library is safe. Every audiobook you've ever purchased stays in your account forever. Cancelling only stops new credits and the ability to use credits. You can still re-listen to anything you bought.
Use up your credits first. Unused credits are forfeited 60 days after cancellation. Check your balance and spend them before clicking cancel — they cost $14.95+ each if you re-buy them as one-offs.
By phone: 1-888-283-5051 (US). Faster than the web if you want to negotiate. Retention reps often offer 3 free months to stay.
Audible Premium Plus vs Plus: Plus ($7.95/mo) is the cheaper tier (no monthly credit, but unlimited Plus Catalog access). If you mainly listen to the Plus Catalog rather than buy new books, downgrade to Plus instead of cancelling.
Family library: Linked Amazon Household members can share audiobooks. If you cancel, the household still has access to your library — useful if your partner is the heavier listener.
