The money side of fonts and design assets sellers is rarely as tidy as the accounting software assumes. Digital products invert the normal retail problem. There is essentially no cost per unit, no stock and no postage, so gross margin is enormous. That sounds like it makes everything easy. It just moves the entire question to one place, which is what it costs you to get a customer.
When the product costs nothing to deliver, advertising becomes your cost of goods in everything but name. A business spending more to acquire a sale than the sale is worth will look like it has ninety percent margins right up until it runs out of money.
Refunds and chargebacks matter more than the amounts suggest. Because there is nothing to return, refund rates can run higher, and payment processors take a dim view of businesses with elevated chargebacks.

Where the money went

Three situations that come up constantly in fonts and design assets.
Refund rate gets calculated from your order data. In digital products a rising rate is worth catching early, both for the money and for your standing with payment processors.
Platform and payment processing costs are categorised separately. On a low priced digital product they are often a much larger share than people expect.
Rising revenue with rising ad spend can be flat or negative. Cashowa puts both on the same chart, which is where a lot of digital businesses discover the growth was rented.
Switch between monthly, quarterly and yearly to see the pattern.
Less seasonal than physical goods. There is usually a January lift for anything organisational or educational and a fourth quarter lift for gift style products.
Upload twelve months and the pattern stops being something you half remember. You can switch between monthly, quarterly and yearly, which matters when income arrives in lumps and a single month tells you very little.
Import your sales file and Cashowa works out profit per product, what is selling, and what has not moved in sixty days. Enter what each item costs you once and the margins stop being guesswork.
Add a lead time and it warns you before something runs out, rather than after.

These get recognised and sorted on their own when they turn up on your statement. If something specific to your setup gets filed wrongly, you fix it once and it sticks.
