High value stock, metal prices, insurance and per item cost basis.
Jewellery ties up more cash per shelf inch than almost anything else. A modest range can represent a very large amount of money sitting still, and unlike fast moving goods it can sit still for a long time. That makes knowing what is actually selling far more important than it is in a category where everything turns over in a fortnight.
Material costs move underneath you. Silver and gold prices change, and a piece costed at last year's metal price is not costed correctly any more. If you make rather than resell, your cost basis needs revisiting more often than most people revisit it.
Insurance, secure postage and authentication are real costs here that barely exist elsewhere. Sending a five hundred pound ring is not the same as sending a tee shirt, and the postage line reflects that.
